How do I address signal strength issues?

Signal strength problems can arise from being a considerable distance from our base station, or through the effects of trees or other barriers, such as terrain. You should not have any problems with your signal strength once the system is installed, although sometimes obstructions may arise due to building works or the growth of trees. It may be possible to reposition your antenna to avoid these obstructions. If your property has marginal signal strength, your installer will tell you and explain your options to you. In some instances obstructions may completely eliminate your ability to receive a signal. Call Cirrus and we will see whether there are other options available for your property.

What do I do if I can't send or receive email?
Please contact your IT support provider in the first instance. If this doesn't help please contact Cirrus support on 1300 552 698.
What is the size of my mailbox?
Customers are provided with a 50MB mailbox.
What is the maximum size of email attachments?
Each attachment cannot exceed 5MB however you are reminded that MIME and similar encoding schemes used by your email client (Outlook Express etc) can inflate the attached file by up to 40%. So a 3MB PowerPoint attachment may actually grow to over 5MB when prepared by your email client for transmission. This would cause the mail item to fail to be delivered even though you thought it was only a 3MB attachment. To be certain about delivery, attachments over 2MB should be span zipped (or use a similar program) to segment the items into manageable packets.
What is SPAM?
The word "Spam" as applied to Email means Unsolicited Bulk Email ("UBE").
Unsolicited means that the Recipient has not granted verifiable permission for the message to be sent. Bulk means that the message is sent as part of a larger collection of messages, all having substantively identical content.
A message is Spam only if it is both Unsolicited and Bulk.
Unsolicited Email is normal email
(examples: first contact enquiries, job enquiries, sales enquiries)
Bulk Email is normal email
(examples: subscriber newsletters, customer communications, discussion lists)
Many Email clients have tools for blocking unwanted emails and there are a number of commercial, semi-commercial and open source groups that are contributing to the battle against SPAM. Cirrus supports the Internet Industry's stand against SPAM and other unwarranted intrusions. If you need help in combating SPAM, you can contact us atsupport@cirruscomms.com.au or by telephoning 1300 552 698.

What is VoIP and what do I need to connect?
At it's simplest VoIP is an integral part of Windows Messenger or Yahoo!Messenger that comes with most preinstalled browsers and operating systems. This service is "free" for use over Internet (in that there may be no fee but down and up load limits may be impacted depending on what plan you and your correspondents are on). These clients typically do not have an ability to easily interact with the fixed public telephone network or the mobile phone network.
You can also purchase Analogue Telephone Adapters (ATA) that allow you to use existing analogue telephone handsets. This technology allows you to get a regular telephone number and call normal landline telephones and mobiles and receive phone calls the same as you do on your current landline. The only difference is the price with VoIP phone calls cost a fraction of the price of regular landline phone calls.

Do I need a SIP account?
There are many hundreds of SIP providers world wide and quite a few Australian companies that one can use. The all have various advantages and disadvantages and which one to choose can be daunting. One need is to consider the people you will most often be calling and what it will cost to call them, what equipment they and you will need and what degree of support you will need.
Setup for your specific solution is specialised and needs to be considered on a case by case basis. Bear in mind that the Cirrus network utilises NAT (RFC1631) for RFC1918 address allocations and this may require STUN server settings in your VoIP client. The VoIP providers usually have step by step instructions for the client software and hardware they recommend. In the first instance, please contact your VoIP account provider for guidance on this.
